Happy New Year!
Paydon and I got to go back home to Utah for a few days for Christmas! I will say my normal diet definitely went out the window the entire time I was there. Did I feel like shit? Yes. Did I love everything that I put into my mouth? Also a yes. I would shove a homemade caramel in my mouth while simultaneously lecturing my family about eating less sugar and processed foods in 2026... It was great 😂 Balance 👌🏽

Animal-based eating
Possibly an unpopular take but... what if you find healthy tasty meals you love, and then eat them over and over and over again? Okay okay, I guess I eat my meals like I listen to music, I find something I like and eat it (listen to it) over and over again until I move onto the next thing. I will say though, if you find something you absolutely love... why not? It makes planning meals a little easier, and I always look forward to them because I think they're super tasty! On a side note, I attribute 75-80% of my physique to nutrition (aka the tasty lunches and dinners). Yes I go to the gym frequently, and I love exercising and pushing my body, but that's not where my little four-pack comes from. It comes from my diet! Believe me when I say I've experimented A LOT with my diet over the past 10 years. I use to compete in bikini bodybuilding competitions and leaned towards low calorie, low carb, high protein meals, despite what was on the nutrition label. In fact, I was really only interested in the calories and none of the ingredients! Since switching to an animal based diet, which includes meat, eggs, cheese, yogurt, along with a few of my favorite fruits and vegetables I feel invincible... as dramatic as it may sound. After tossing out my highly processed protein bars, protein drinks, and other low-cal, highly processed foods, I start to feel better not only physically, but have more mental clarity, well-balanced emotions, clearer skin, a great feeling gut, etc.
10/10 recommend a non-processed, animal-based rooted diet to anyone looking to feel their best.
Below you'll see nachos (Siete chips that are made with avacado oil instead of seed oils, grass fed and finished beef, organic toppings, and grass fed and finished cheese that doesn't contain the usual cheese dyes), noodles (either cassava noodles or rice noodles), flavorful salads, organic popcorn, and cookies (made with einkorn flour or almond flour and pure stevia (most stevia brands contain an additive called maltodextrin so beware)).
You can still make the dishes you love and enjoy! You just have to pivot a little.

Utah
Is anyone a Benson Boone fan?? I was coming out of security in the Salt Lake City airport (one of their secret terminals celebrities often take - iykyk) and I was in a hurry putting on my shoes and packing all of my electronics back into my bag when I heard a voice behind me say, "Can I pet your dog?". I whirled around and said "Holy shit! Of course Benson Boone can pet my dog!". We pulled over and chatted for a quick sec, he and his friends were headed to start his tour in Europe. And yes ladies- he is just as cute in person.
I was only in Utah for a few days, I went straight there from our trip to Spain to go pick up our little french bulldog Tank. He had been with my mom since our trip to Japan- almost two months!
While I was there I grabbed some drinks with the sisters (we were raised Mormon, where drinking is frowned upon, so even though we have all been above the legal drinking age for some time, this was really one of our first cocktails together), took my niece to get her nails done for the first time since it was her bday (she is the most feral princess I've ever met... I can't wait to see who she'll become in the future), and indulged in the usual Utah activities which included Swig drinks and Cafe Rio. 10/10 recommend if you're ever in Utah.
Cheers!

Spain
Wow! This was my third trip to Spain, and Paydon's second. I actually served a mormon mission in Madrid for 18 months when I was 19 so I consider Spain my second home. After a year and a half of giving my whole heart to serving the people of Madrid I can definetely say it keeps a piece of that heart- my heart.
Enough of the mushy gushy- we went to Spain on a hunting trip with Paydons side of the family. They are big time hunters.
I will say I think this has been one of my most favorite trips.. like.. ever. I think that is mostly because I didn't know it at the time but I endeavored on one of the most difficult hikes of my entire life. When I say hike I don't mean a cute little 8 miles through Zions national park with long switchbacks and steep elevation changes... I mean NO trail, bush wacking, climbing and crawling 15 miles over the span of 12 hours, across God only knows where to hunt an animal that weighs 300 lbs...
Ah man. I just feel like I could never describe it well enough to do that hike justice. Just know I've done a lot of hikes and fitness competitions and this was one of my top 3 mentally, emotionally, and physically hardest things I have ever done in my life! I have a motto I've lived over the past couple of years - do hard things - because I feel invincible, on fire, ALIVE, when I'm doing something incredibly hard. I think that's one of the reasons I enjoyed the trip so much, not to mention some of the best paella and salads (yes salads) I have ever had in my life.
Wow as I'm writting this, it sounds incredibly dramatic. But it's true. Probably why the trip was one of my faves.
One last thing before I wrap up because this was the cherry on top! My partner/sponsor for my motocross content page, Stark Varg, invited us to tour their factory, ride their private track, and give a review on their brand new electric supermotos, which of course was unreal.
Youtube video on all the bts coming soon!
Cheers!

Lake Powell
Finally getting my digitals back from packing my film camera along for our trip to Utah! Paydon and I used to visit Lake Powell every year when we were in college - his family has a houseboat on one of the marinas so we definitely took advantage and would take all of our friends down during the summer. Since college it's been hard to get everyone on the same schedule to go but this summer we were able to make it happen! Bless Paydons heart- he was the only man on the boat for most of this trip haha.
Since we were traveling with our own coolers we were able to pack our typical meals- yogurt, cheese, grass fed and finished steaks, eggs, air-chilled chicken breats, etc. My Mom and sister are also keen on our unique diet so they were super easy to cook for while we were there.
The only downside of the houseboat is all of the kitchenware is a bit dated! Lots of plastics and teflon... if we ever own a houseboat in the future you know I'll be filling her up with cast iron pans and glass/stainless steal pots lol. BUT beggers cant be choosers and I think we were able to nail our nutrition while we were there- which I think aided in us playing harder and longer and we never felt like shiz :)
Enjoy :)

Horsevalley
We just got back from a family trip in our home state of Utah- Paydon and I haven't been back to see our family in almost six months, which for me is a long stretch. Upon arrival to my mother-in-laws house and Paydon's childhood home, I totally forgot what it was like to be plopped back into a typical American family kitchen. I was surprised by the amount of teflon, micro-plastics, seed oils, red dye 40, etc, etc, that immediately surrounded us... Just writing that makes me feel like a crazy person (I'm chuckling at myself rn). Oh how I've changed!
With that being said- I grew up around these familiar products and brands that overtime, I've come to learn, aren't the best for our bodies. Since my deep dive into the health and wellness space hasn't been until recent- most of my life up until that point had been consuming these products- and although I had a wee lil bit of anxiety about consuming them (because I know how bad they are now), I figured one week shouldn't kill me. Although it is doable - it feels nearly impossible sometimes to stick to diets and habits while traveling, ESPECIALLY with family- where most habits stem from.
Please enjoy our vlog where I take you to Paydons family cabin where they host the biggest redneck event of the year (I love the rednecks- I even planned an outfit for the occasion because I wanted to be one of them for the weekend lol.), followed by a trip to Lake Powell with my family. While I'm there I'll check out everyones pantry and call them to repent lol.
Enjoy...
